A colossal 33-foot-tall and 210-tonne Shiva Lingam, crafted in Tamil Nadu's Mahabalipuram, has reached the neighbouring Gopalganj district in Bihar, drawing massive crowds of devotees who are eager to pay their respects. The stone, symbolizing Lord Shiva, was transported on a specially designed 96-wheeled truck over a grueling 45-day period, covering nearly 2,500 km through five Indian states. Bihar Minister Ashok Choudhary and Sayan Kunal, a member of the Bihar State Religious Trust Council, were among the first to offer prayers before the Shiva Lingam. Choudhary described the structure as a symbol of a great spiritual resolve, envisioned by the late Kishore Kunal, who had dreamed of creating a Shiva Lingam that would grant devotees spiritual merit equivalent to worshipping 1,008 Shiva Lingams. The Shiva Lingam is set to be installed at the under-construction Virat Ramayan Temple in East Champaran district, which is expected to be completed by 2030. The temple will stand at an impressive 270 feet tall, with 18 towers and 22 temples dedicated to various deities. The Shiva Lingam is scheduled to reach the temple between January 10 and 12, with a formal installation ceremony planned for January 17, during the celebration of Krishna Chaturdashi.
