Xiaomi and Leica have joined forces to create a revolutionary smartphone camera that brings mobile photography closer to the human eye's perception of reality. The Xiaomi 17 flagship series, launching soon in India, will compete with top-tier smartphones from Samsung, Vivo, and OnePlus.

According to Anuj Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer at Xiaomi India, the camera is the closest Android flagship photography has come to replicating the human eye's view of reality. The partnership with Leica has been extended, and the company is committed to co-creation, identifying new problems and solutions that smartphone makers haven't thought of.

The Xiaomi 17 series features a LOFIC sensor, a 200-megapixel continuous optical zoom, and a 75mm and 100mm lens. The phone maker has rewritten its flagship playbook, pushing the boundaries of mobile photography and aiming to bridge the gap with DSLRs.

Sandeep Singh Arora, Chief Business Officer at Xiaomi India, believes that premiumisation is not just about phones but a broader ecosystem journey. The company has seen strong response across categories, including TVs and tablets, and is accelerating its premiumisation push in India.

As premiumisation gains traction, Xiaomi's success metrics are changing, with a focus on premium contribution, ASP growth, consumer satisfaction, and cross-category ownership. The company is also working to build awareness of Leica's benchmark status in imaging and what the partnership delivers.

With memory and storage prices rising sharply, Xiaomi is managing customer expectations by adapting to the structural reality and stabilizing the market. The company is committed to delivering high-quality cameras that support reality capture, not replace it.
