Actor Abhishek Bachchan has revealed why he never bought an Indian Premier League (IPL) team, citing the high cost of entry and his desire to contribute more than just his name.

In an interview with Forbes, Bachchan explained that when the IPL first started, it was 'very expensive' and 'out of my budget' as a fledgling actor.

He also stated that he didn't know what he could contribute to the team, beyond the financial investment, and preferred to be involved in the day-to-day operations of his other sports investments, such as the Jaipur Pink Panthers in the Pro Kabaddi League and Chennaiyin FC.

Bachchan has invested in several sports teams and is often seen attending matches with his family.

He was last seen in Madhumita's Kaalidhar Laapata and is set to feature in Siddharth Anand's King, alongside Shah Rukh Khan, and Raja Shivaji, a historical action drama co-written and directed by Riteish Deshmukh.
