Actor-turned-politician Vijay has submitted a complaint to the Tamil Nadu DGP against DMK supporter Ponraj Vellaichamy for his derogatory remarks against female cadres of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK).
Ponraj had referred to the women as 'prostitutes' in a tweet, sparking outrage from Vijay, who is also the chief of TVK.
Vijay has urged strict legal action against Ponraj, saying his remarks insult all women collectively.
The controversy comes ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, where Vijay's TVK is set to contest against the DMK.
