The horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, has taken a strong start at the box office, collecting ₹12.25 crore on its opening day. The film, directed by Priyadarshan, marks the reunion of the duo after a decade and has received mixed to positive reviews. Bhooth Bangla has surpassed the opening day haul of Kartik Aaryan-starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, collecting ₹15.75 crore in total India net.
The film, which also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, and Jisshu Sengupta, has sold 1.3 lakh tickets on the opening day and collected ₹3.32 crore in gross domestic advance bookings. Bhooth Bangla has also performed well on Thursday, collecting ₹3.50 crore net from paid previews.
With a total India gross collection of ₹18.90 crore, Bhooth Bangla has set a record in horror-comedies, surpassing the opening day collections of Stree 2 and Thamma.
