Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar have reunited after 14 years with the horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, set to hit the screens on April 17.
Trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh praised both the director and the lead star in his 3.5-star review, calling the film 'an entertainer that works for most parts.'
The Akshay Kumar - Priyadarshan combo doesn't disappoint – the chills and chuckles are in equal measure, with humour working although a few sequences may come across as slightly naughty.
Priyadarshan ensures the narrative remains engaging, although the writing could've been sharper and the runtime could've been tighter.
Akshay Kumar is in top form, with his comic timing, expressions, and effortless switch between fear and humour a delight to watch.
Tabu is effective, although an actress of her calibre deserved more power-packed moments.
Special praise is reserved for the comedy veterans in the cast, including Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav who deliver several laugh-out-loud moments.
The review calls the soundtrack a 'mixed bag', but concludes that Bhooth Bangla is 'worth a watch for its genuinely funny moments and a fair share of eerie chills.'
