Alia Bhatt faced an online backlash after her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, with some trolls claiming she was ignored by photographers. However, film critic Anupama Chopra has now claimed that the backlash was part of a paid campaign driven by insecure actors.

According to Anupama, a source close to the industry revealed that the trolling was a paid PR campaign against Alia, citing the growing insecurity among actors today.

Alia herself took to social media to respond to a troll who commented that nobody noticed her, and she replied with a confident message, 'Why pity love? You noticed me :)'

Several actors, including Sonu Sood, Ameesha Patel, and Aly Goni, also came forward to defend Alia against the trolls.
