Salman Khan's 2003 film Tere Naam catapulted him to fame, but did you know that Ameesha Patel was initially offered the lead role? In a recent interaction, Ameesha shared why she couldn't do the film and expressed her regret over turning it down.

Ameesha admitted that she regrets saying no to Tere Naam, citing that there were no fixed dates for the film when Salman narrated the story. She was already committed to another project at the time and couldn't accommodate her dates.

The film had gone through several directors before Satish Kaushik was finalised, and Ameesha felt that she couldn't take away time from the people she had already committed to. If Salman had come to her with a set date and director, she would have definitely taken on the role.

Tere Naam is a remake of the Tamil film Sethu (1999) and revolves around an obsessive lover Radhe (Salman) who falls for a girl and kidnaps her. The film also starred Bhumika Chawla in the lead.
