Multiple reports suggested Ranveer Singh has acquired the rights to Amish Tripathi’s best-selling novel, The Immortals of Meluha, under his production banner, Maa Kasam Film. However, Tripathi has denied these claims, stating that the rights for the Shiva Trilogy are still with him.
The reports said that Ranveer has partnered with Birla Studios to develop the mythological epic as a grand-scale trilogy, with work expected to begin in 2028. However, Tripathi reacted with surprise, saying that nothing has been signed with anyone as yet.
This is not the first time that the rights to The Immortals of Meluha have been reported to be acquired by a filmmaker. Earlier, Karan Johar had obtained the rights for an adaptation of the popular book, but the director's contract with Tripathi expired, and Dharma Productions had to surrender the rights.
Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali had also shown interest in the project but did not work out. Tripathi has expressed his respect for Ranveer and is a fan of his work, but he has denied the recent reports of the acquisition of the rights to The Immortals of Meluha.
