Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan's integrity has been highlighted by producer Manoj Desai, who claims the megastar refused to 'buy' the Best Actor award in the past. According to Desai, Amitabh Bachchan turned down the offer, saying, 'I don't buy awards.' Desai made this revelation during an interview, where he shared a personal anecdote. He stated that during an award function, a prominent film writer, Rauf Ahmed, approached him with a proposal: if he gave the Best Actor award to Amitabh Bachchan, he would bear the expense of the party. Desai claims he asked Amitabh Bachchan about the proposal, and the actor replied, 'I don't buy awards.' He further added that he knew the award would eventually go to Anil Kapoor, who had already organized a party to celebrate the honour. Interestingly, Amitabh Bachchan's stance is not unique. Dharmendra, another Bollywood legend, is said to have adhered to the same principle, refusing to 'buy' awards. Manoj Desai recalled that Dharmendra, during his Lifetime Achievement award acceptance speech, mentioned that he deserved awards for his previous films but didn't receive them. It's worth noting that Anil Kapoor did receive the Best Actor award, but not for Mr. India, as previously claimed. He won the award in 1989 for Tezaab, the same year Amitabh Bachchan was nominated for Shahenshah. The revelation has sparked interest in the Bollywood community, with many taking to social media to commend Amitabh Bachchan's integrity. The incident has also led to a discussion about the ethics of award shows and the influence of money on the outcome of awards. Khuda Gawah, a 1992 film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi, and Nagarjuna, was a box office hit and tells the story of an Afghan warrior who sets out on a mission after falling in love with a woman from a neighbouring clan. The film was extensively shot in Afghanistan and is remembered for its unique storyline and stunning landscapes.
