Subedaar, directed by Suresh Triveni, starts strong but loses steam as it unfolds. The film, starring Anil Kapoor, Aditya Rawal, Radhika Madaan, and Mona Singh, has a promising premise but fails to deliver a satisfying payoff.
The story revolves around Arjun Maurya (Anil Kapoor), a retired Army officer, who becomes the security officer for the local goon Prince (Aditya Rawal). As Arjun navigates his personal loss and his daughter's struggles, the story collides with Prince's attempts to keep a woman captive.
Anil Kapoor shines in the film, bringing a magnetic presence to the screen. Radhika Madan complements him well as his daughter, and Aditya Rawal makes a memorable antagonist. However, Mona Singh feels underutilized.
The music supports the film, but the climax falls flat, and the ending feels rushed. The themes set up initially evaporate, leaving the audience with a sense of disappointment.
Subedaar is ultimately a film of promise more than payoff, with Anil Kapoor being the standout performer. It's available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
