Director Anurag Kashyap's latest release, Bandar, starring Bobby Deol, has failed to translate positive reviews into box-office success. Despite completing a week in theatres, the film continues to struggle in attracting audiences and generating the numbers needed for a strong theatrical run.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film Bandar drew audiences across 820 shows nationwide on its seventh day. However, the film experienced its toughest day on Wednesday, bringing in just about ₹25 lakh. The movie began its theatrical journey with an opening-day collection of ₹50 lakh and peaked at ₹1 crore on Sunday.
Once the workweek started, the ticket sales began a steady downward trend. Bandar managed to collect ₹45 lakh each on Monday and Tuesday before taking a sharper hit on Wednesday. After completing seven full days in cinema halls, the film has collected an estimated ₹25 lakh on Thursday, translating its domestic collection to about ₹3.65 crore net.
The movie is facing stiff competition from two big domestic releases and several major Hollywood and international movies. Based on a true event, Bandar follows Samar (Bobby Deol), a fading singer-actor who is accused of rape and dragged into a messy, high-profile legal battle. The film is directed by Anurag Kashyap and features an ensemble cast.
