Asha Bhosle's Peaceful Farewell: Legendary Singer's Final Years and Legacy

Music director Shamir Tandon has reflected on how Asha Bhosle was not scared of death and said she wanted to go out on her own terms.

Asha Bhosle, the legendary Indian singer, passed away at the age of 92, leaving behind a legacy of over 11,000 songs across multiple languages. As tributes pour in from the industry, music director Shamir Tandon shares his emotional recollection of working with the singer, describing her as a mother figure in his life.

Shamir Tandon recalled how Asha Bhosle once advised him to remain technology-forward, a trait she learned from her late husband, composer RD Burman. He also shared how Asha related to the lyrics of one of her final songs, 'Jaane do, jaane do, khud se milna hai, jaane do', which translates to 'Let me go, let me go, I want to meet myself, let me go'. The singer expressed her desire to go away peacefully and find herself again.

Born in 1933, Asha Bhosle began her musical journey at a young age and rose to prominence in the 1950s. She was honoured as the most recorded artist in the world by the Guinness Book of World Records and received numerous awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan. Asha Bhosle breathed her last on Sunday due to organ failure, after dealing with multiple health issues.
