James Cameron's highly anticipated third Avatar installment, 'Fire and Ash,' has faced a setback in its first week. Initially, the film relied heavily on international box office earnings to stay afloat after a modest North American opening of $88 million. However, its first major dip on Monday saw a significant decline in its global collections. The film's three-day global haul was $347 million, but it collected a mere $13 million domestically on Monday, marking a 45% drop from Sunday. Internationally, it added $39 million, pushing its total international earnings to $296 million. As of its fourth day, Avatar: Fire and Ash has earned $398.7 million worldwide, falling short of the $500 million mark achieved by its predecessor, 'The Way of Water,' within the same timeframe. The film, starring Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, follows two parents as they fight to protect their family and planet. The addition of Oona Chaplin as a new antagonist introduces a fresh dynamic to the franchise. With the first Avatar film grossing $2.9 billion and 'The Way of Water' pulling in $2.3 billion, expectations were high for the third installment. The fourth and fifth Avatar films are scheduled for release in 2029 and 2031, respectively.
