James Cameron's highly-anticipated film Avatar: Fire and Ash has been performing well globally, but its India box office run has been a different story. After five days, the movie has earned an estimated ₹85.50 crore nett across all languages, with Tuesday's collection standing at ₹9.25 crore. Despite its strong brand value and premium formats, Avatar: Fire and Ash has failed to meet expectations in the Indian market. In India, the English version of the film recorded an overall occupancy of 20.84 per cent on Day 5, with Chennai being the top-performing metro at 30.75 per cent. However, the film's growth has been hindered by the success of Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, which has dominated the box office and pushed Avatar: Fire and Ash to the sidelines. Dhurandhar has earned ₹589.50 crore nett in India, making it a significant challenge for Avatar: Fire and Ash to catch up. The upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays may further intensify competition, with new releases like Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Ikkis expected to attract audiences. Despite this, Avatar: Fire and Ash has performed impressively globally, posting a $347.30 million (around ₹2,900 crore nett) worldwide opening on a budget exceeding $400 million. The film's global success reinforces the franchise's appeal, but its India box office run remains a concern.
