There are many unsettling scenes from Curry Barker's Obsession, but one stands out as particularly shocking. The scene, which has been modified for Indian audiences, shows Nikki turning up to a rendezvous with Bear and their friend Sarah, only to brutally beat Sarah to death. But how was this scene shot? The answer lies in a combination of practical effects and clever editing.

According to Curry, the original scene was much more graphic, with multiple smashes and a more graphic outcome. However, to avoid an NC-17 rating in the US, the scene had to be shortened. The behind-the-scenes video of the scene's making shows how it was shot with practical effects rather than CGI. A unit member is seen throwing a jelly-like 'glass' at Bear and dousing him in fake blood.

The scene was also made to look more realistic by physically shaking the car as Nikki beat Sarah to death. Megan Lawless, who played Sarah, even posted a behind-the-scenes video from the film's shoot where she and Inde Navarrette (Nikki) were goofing off before giving their take. She revealed that Inde had to wear a helmet and a wig for the glass-breaking scene, looking ridiculous.

As for the scene where her head was smashed in, Megan said that Inde was 'gently' holding the back of her head as she pretended to slam it into a brick. A doll version of her was also placed to show her face at the end of it all.
