Aparna Sen, a renowned filmmaker, has expressed her concerns about the state of the Bengali film industry, describing it as 'moribund'. She believes that the industry is struggling due to the dominance of TV serials, which are drawing audiences away from films.

Sen, who has made several acclaimed films, including 36 Chowringhee Lane and Parama, has stated that she may not make any more films due to the lack of interest in serious, thought-provoking content. She feels that the industry is being controlled in a way that makes it difficult for films to survive.

Sen's latest film, The Rapist, which premiered at the 26th Busan International Film Festival, has not yet been released in theatres. She believes that the OTT platform is now favoring feel-good and romantic comedies, leaving little room for serious exploration of topics.

With a career spanning over six decades, Sen has established herself as a talented actor and director. Her contributions to the Bengali film industry have been recognized with numerous awards, including the National Award for Best Director.
