Neeraj Ghaywan, director of Masaan, has spoken out against the graphic violence in the trailer of Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon. Ghaywan believes that filmmakers can portray violence in a responsible manner without relying on shock value.

He criticized the apparent acid attack sequence in the trailer, calling it "plain ugly" and stating that it could be triggering for many people. Ghaywan argued that there are smarter ways to depict violence on screen, citing the example of a woman being slapped repeatedly.

Tere Ishk Mein, directed by Aanand L. Rai, received mixed reviews from critics and audiences but managed to collect ₹161 crore worldwide. Ghaywan's recent film, Homebound, received widespread critical acclaim and was selected as India's official submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards.
