Mumbai, Screenwriter Jyoti Kapoor, known for her work on films like "Badhaai Ho" and "Good Newwz", says writers in Hindi cinema don't ask for much but still get short-changed.

Kapoor wants writers to get their due credit, fair compensation, and a guarantee that their work won't be stolen.

She spoke about the disputes within the screenwriting community and the legal framework of major production houses that works against writers.

Kapoor also expressed concerns over the changing landscape of Hindi cinema, where slice-of-life and middle-of-the-road movies are disappearing.

She plans to step into direction with a short film this year and is working on a feature film that blends comedy and drama.
