The Ram Charan-starrer Peddi's road to theatres was rocky, with intense online negativity and harsh criticism. Director Buchi Babu Sana has admitted that the film's trailer was a misstep, failing to capture the story's true essence.

Buchi Babu acknowledged that the trailer, which dropped on June 4, left fans more confused than excited. He admitted to actor Jagapathi Babu that the team made a major mistake during editing, packing too many things into one scene.

Jagapathi Babu recalled the intense pressure and scepticism surrounding the film before and after its release. However, Buchi Babu credited part of Peddi's success to the positive response from digital content creators who shared their genuine reactions online.

The film's portrayal of Janhvi Kapoor's character, Achiyyamma, sparked controversy, with viewers expressing discomfort over romantic sequences. Director Buchi Babu addressed the issue directly, stating that the creative team never intended to objectify or disrespect female characters.

The production team has since confirmed that the controversial scenes will be edited down or removed from the movie. Peddi, an 1980s sports action drama, started strong at the box office, earning ₹100 crore on day 1, but fell flat after the first weekend, earning ₹280 crore worldwide so far.
