Music composer Daboo Malik has refuted his son Amaal Mallik's claim that he was replaced by Salman Khan in the 1989 film Maine Pyaar Kiya. Daboo clarified that he was working on a different film, Sawan Jhoom Utha, at the time and was not involved in Maine Pyaar Kiya.
In an interview, Daboo explained that he was working on Sawan Jhoom Utha for a year before it was canned, and he only learned about it when he saw the poster of Maine Pyaar Kiya at the Rajshri office. He added that the two projects were similar, which may have caused the confusion.
Amaal Mallik had earlier claimed that his father shot for the first two schedules of Maine Pyaar Kiya as the hero, but Daboo's clarification has put an end to the controversy.
