On a recent episode of CBS’s show Sunday Morning, Dan Levy revisited the possibility of a Schitt’s Creek sequel. At one point in the interview, he burst into tears as he imagined the possibility of making it without Catherine O’Hara.
He said that it was something he thought of at one time, but he doesn’t think it can be made now.
When asked by the interviewer if there was any chance of a sequel, Dan replied, “No, not now. No. You can’t,” already looking emotional.
When pressed on what he was feeling, he replied, “Just a lot of memories. A lot of memories with…with Catherine. It’s what you have to hold on to is the memories of it all. And an incredible clip reel. Listen, for someone who was not on the internet, she knew how to meme.”
The internet could relate to Dan mourning Catherine even months after her death, with many commenting on YouTube that they too felt emotional watching the interview.
Catherine O’Hara died at the age of 71 on January 30 from pulmonary embolism, with rectal cancer identified as the underlying cause.
Dan wrote on Instagram after her death, “What a gift to have gotten to dance in the warm glow of Catherine O’Hara’s brilliance for all those years. Having spent over fifty years collaborating with my Dad, Catherine was extended family before she ever played my family.”
