In a dramatic turn of events, Priya Kapur, the widow of Sunjay Kapur, has contended that the Delhi High Court lacks jurisdiction to interfere with her handling of their foreign assets in the UK and US. The dispute revolves around Sunjay's multimillion-dollar estate, with his children from his previous marriage to Karisma Kapoor claiming that Priya forged his will. The children, Samaira and Kiaan, with Karisma as their legal guardian, had approached the Delhi High Court seeking an injunction to restrain Priya from dealing with Sunjay's assets. However, Priya's counsel argued that the issue of foreign assets falls under foreign jurisdiction, and the court cannot stop her from seeking the title of Sunjay's immovable properties abroad. Justice Jyoti Singh has asked the parties to file their written submissions in the matter, with the next hearing scheduled for December 22. Meanwhile, Priya's minor son's counsel, Akhil Sibal, has stated that Priya has no intention to sell the shares in Aureus Investments Pvt Ltd, which were transferred to her after Sunjay's death. The dispute has raised questions about the authenticity of Sunjay's will, with Karisma's children, Sunjay's mother, and sister all involved in the case. Sunjay was the chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading auto parts manufacturer, and died in June in London while playing a polo match. He was married to Karisma from 2003 to 2016 and had two children with her before marrying Priya in 2017.
