Alex Bueno, the renowned Dominican music icon, has passed away at the age of 62 after a long battle with cancer.
His death was announced via his official Instagram page on June 18, stating that he had passed away in New York City at 9:43am Eastern Standard Time.
Bueno had been publicly battling cancer for several years, moving to the United States in September 2025 for treatment.
Although he had undergone successful surgery and was on the path to recovery, his condition deteriorated three weeks ago due to a significant drop in sodium levels and blood pressure.
The singer's legacy in the music industry is immense, with contributions to Merengue and Bachata genres considered timeless.
He began his career with Orquesta de Fernando Villalona before breaking out on his own and co-founding La Orquesta Coco Band, releasing internationally acclaimed albums and era-defining hits, including 'Que Vuelva' and 'Jardinera.'
