Following years of production delays, casting shuffles, and attempts at revival, Dostana 2 has once again found itself at the center of industry speculation. According to a recent report, filmmaker Advait Chandan has stepped away from the project, citing creative differences with the makers.
Advait Chandan, known for Secret Superstar and Laal Singh Chaddha, was brought in to revive the film after director Collin D'Cunha walked away from the production. The revamped version of Dostana 2 was expected to star Vikrant Massey, Lakshya, and former Miss India World Sini Shetty, marking her Bollywood debut.
However, the exit of Advait Chandan has left Karan Johar's Dharma Productions searching for a new creative captain to steer the long-delayed franchise sequel back on track. The road to bringing Dostana 2 to the big screen has been one of the most talked-about rollercoasters in modern Bollywood, with multiple setbacks and years in limbo.
The first film Dostana, released in 2008, starred Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan, and John Abraham, with a special appearance by Bobby Deol. The sequel has undergone several creative overhauls as the studio experimented with revised scripts and fresh casting combinations.
