Popstar Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner's $1.7 million Sicily wedding has sparked protests from locals. The couple's three-day celebration in Palermo reportedly cost £1.3 million and involved closing roads, restricting access to public areas, and banning drones.

Residents claim that these measures made everyday life difficult and turned parts of Palermo into an exclusive zone for visitors, leading to protests and public anger. Activists argue that public spaces should not be privatized for private profit.

The couple has offered £5,000 to people affected by the disruption, but critics say the payments and extravagance do not fit the simple, romantic image being shown.

The wedding celebrations went ahead as planned, with about 200 guests from music, film, and fashion attending, including Charli XCX, George Daniel, and Donatella Versace.
