Indian costume designer Eka Lakhani has been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), a prestigious organisation behind the Oscars. This achievement marks a proud moment for Indian cinema as more homegrown talent gains recognition on the international platform.

Lakhani joins a growing list of Indian film professionals who are now Academy members, including Vishal Bhardwaj, Deepa Bhatia, Dilip Shankar, and others.

Reacting to the honour, Eka Lakhani expressed her gratitude, stating, 'It's an honour to join a community of artists I've admired for years, and it's a privilege to contribute to the Academy's process while continuing to discover and celebrate the very best of world cinema.'

Lakhani's journey into cinema began with a strong foundation in fashion, working as a fashion stylist before transitioning to film. She has established herself as one of India's most respected costume designers, creating authentic looks for characters and stories. Her filmography includes Ponniyin Selvan: I & II, Dunki, Sanju, and more.

Outside films, Lakhani is also a sought-after celebrity stylist, having worked with stars including Ranveer Singh, Karan Johar, and Sachin Tendulkar.
