FEFSI president RK Selvamani has condemned the leak of Vijay's unreleased film Jana Nayagan, calling it a 'systemic failure.' He compared the incident to a ₹500 crore bank heist, stating that the country would be outraged if such a robbery occurred at the Reserve Bank.
Selvamani also pointed out that the leak has cost producers ₹500 crore, the film's supposed budget, and that the government must take action to track down the IP addresses and punish the perpetrators.
He agreed with Kamal Haasan's view that the delay in certification by the CBFC created fertile ground for piracy, and that the system is flawed.
The Tamil Nadu cybercrime wing has arrested six individuals in connection with the unauthorised online leak.
