Filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan has expressed his discontent with TVF's popular show Panchayat, stating that the show's lead characters are predominantly upper-caste individuals.

In a conversation with Yuvaa, Ghaywan said that TVF, being an IIT-educated team, should be able to create more diverse characters, especially in a show set in rural India.

Ghaywan took the example of Panchayat, which he claims is not an authentic representation of villages, citing the lack of lower-caste and Muslim characters.

Ghaywan's comments come after his film Homebound, which touched upon inequality and the caste divide in India, received critical acclaim but underperformed at the box office.
