Two independent horror films directed by Gen Z YouTubers have taken the top spot at the weekend box office, beating out the latest Star Wars film, The Mandalorian and Grogu.
Backrooms, directed by Kane Parsons, made an astonishing $81.5 million in its first three days in North America, while Obsession, directed by Curry Barker, earned $26.4 million in the same period.
Together, the two indie horror films pushed The Mandalorian and Grogu to the third spot, with the Star Wars adventure earning $25 million in North America.
