Actor Demi Moore has called Hollywood's fight against AI a losing battle, urging the film industry to find ways to work with the new technology to protect itself.

Speaking ahead of the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival, Moore said AI is here to stay and that fighting it is a battle that will be lost. She urged the industry to find ways to work with AI, rather than trying to fight it.

Moore, who is attending the festival as a jury member, admitted that the industry is 'probably not' doing enough to protect itself from AI.

Guillermo del Toro also weighed in on the issue, saying that art can be done with an app, but that doesn't make it meaningful. He was screening a 4K restoration of his film Pan's Labyrinth at the festival.

The 79th Cannes Film Festival launched on Tuesday, marking the start of 12 days of nonstop premieres that will culminate May 23 with the presentation of the prestigious Palme d'Or.
