The horror film Obsession has become a surprise hit in India, holding strong through its first weekdays despite featuring no major A-list star. The film has maintained steady collections even on weekdays and continues to outperform the Bollywood release Chand Mera Dil.
According to the latest report on Sacnilk, Obsession has collected ₹2.51 crore on its sixth day of release, bringing its total India gross collections to ₹18.12 crore and total India net to ₹15.26 crore so far.
The film was released in US theatres before India, on May 15, and has grossed over $148 million worldwide on a minuscule budget of roughly $750,000.
Produced by a relatively unknown cast, the film's story follows Bear, a lonely music store worker who makes a desperate wish to his childhood friend Nikki, only to have her feelings become overwhelming and suffocating.
Actress Ananya Panday has joined the growing list of fans of the film, revealing that it left a lasting impression on her and stayed with her long after the credits rolled.
