The National Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the Central Board of Film Certification, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and Google India over the song 'Sarke Chunar' from the upcoming film KD: The Devil.
The NHRC has directed the relevant bodies to inquire into the matter and submit an Action Taken Report within two weeks, citing 'vulgar, sexually suggestive, and double-meaning lyrics' as a potential violation of human rights.
The commission has also demanded the removal of the song from all platforms and action against officials involved in clearing it.
An FIR has been filed against the makers, and the song's music partner has pulled it down from YouTube and social media.
The row over the song's lyrics has sparked a debate on the regulation of explicit content in mainstream entertainment and its impact on young audiences.
