The search for the next James Bond has begun, but Idris Elba has officially shut down rumors of him taking on the iconic role.

Speaking to British GQ, the actor stated that the rumors were never legitimate and that he never felt it was a realistic possibility.

Elba went on to say that James Bond was written for a reason, and that some markets may not be ready for a Black male playing the character.

He emphasized the importance of staying true to the character and not trying to make it 'woke,' but rather embracing the escapism that Bond provides.

The hunt for a new face to play Bond is still ongoing, with several names including Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson being mentioned as potential candidates.
