Hyderabad is set to welcome back the iconic IMAX format after an 11-year hiatus. Mahesh Babu's AMB Cinemas has announced the return of IMAX to the city, with the first location, AMB Classic Victory, expected to open before the end of 2026. The news has sent fans into a frenzy, especially with the upcoming release of SS Rajamouli's Varanasi, which will be screened in IMAX on April 7th, 2027. However, the theatre will not open in time for Peddi's release on June 4th, as initially announced by the film's team. The agreement between IMAX Corporation and Asian Cinemas includes three locations, with the remaining two, including one in Hyderabad, planned for 2028.

The return of IMAX to Hyderabad is a significant development, with fans expressing their excitement on social media. The format's grand return is a testament to the city's love for cinema, and AMB Cinemas is proud to bring back the prestigious IMAX format to Hyderabad. With a strong performance at the box office in 2025, IMAX is driving demand among new and existing exhibition partners in the region.
