Imran Khan's resurgence to the mainstream after 11 years has been with a classic romantic comedy. In a recent chat, he discussed choosing this genre for his comeback, addressing the notion that theatrical success is driven by spectacle and intensity.

Imran said, 'I think it's essential to separate the creative process from commercial success. We're becoming more enamored with box office numbers, but it means nothing to me.'

The post-COVID era has altered viewing habits, with audiences reserving time and money for larger-than-life big screen experiences. Imran acknowledged, 'You're right, there has been a global trend in audiences moving away from cinemas, and one really only showing up for large scale spectacle. I don't see anything wrong with that, it's audiences' taste.'

For his comeback film Adhoore Hum Adhoore Tum, co-starring Bhumi Satish Pednekkar, Imran highlighted a conscious departure from the pressure to cater to theatrical mass appeal, opting for a Netflix original with a gentle, relationship story.
