After making a name for himself with films like Jab We Met and Rockstar, filmmaker Imtiaz Ali had a rule of not working with the same actor twice. However, this changed with the release of Tamasha in 2015, where he cast Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, both of whom he had already worked with.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, Imtiaz revealed that he initially thought he would have a 'hangover' from the previous film, but this was not the case. He credits Ranbir and Diljit Dosanjh for changing his mindset, saying that they were the best actors for the roles in Tamasha and his new film, Main Vaapas Aaunga.
Main Vaapas Aaunga is a romantic drama set during the Partition and stars Diljit, Vedang Raina, Sharvari, and Naseeruddin Shah. The film is set to release on June 12.
