Main Vaapas Aaunga has defied the odds with a remarkable box office surge, thanks to glowing reviews and positive word of mouth. The romantic drama, directed by Imtiaz Ali and starring Diljit Dosanjh, Naseeruddin Shah, and Sharvari, has seen a significant increase in demand, with extra shows being added to meet the growing interest.
The film, which opened to lacklustre numbers last Friday, has now collected ₹24 crore in India, with a total gross of ₹29 crore. This is a testament to the power of word of mouth, with audiences driving the film's success through positive reviews and social media buzz.
Despite facing stiff competition from Cocktail 2, Main Vaapas Aaunga has managed to grow its box office numbers, with a 130% jump on its second Saturday compared to Friday's earnings. Sunday saw a 32.2% growth in comparison to Saturday.
The film's distributors and exhibitors have praised the response to the movie, with Gautam Dutta, CEO-Revenue & Operations, PVR INOX Limited, stating that the film's performance reflects sustained audience interest.
Main Vaapas Aaunga tells the story of a 95-year-old man who suffers a stroke while trying to rush to Pakistan, and his grandson's efforts to piece together his past as he drifts in and out of recollection.
