Imtiaz Ali's romantic drama, Main Vaapas Aaunga, has received positive reviews from both the audience and critics, but it's not translating into box office numbers. The film, starring Sharvari, Vedang Raina, and Diljit Dosanjh, collected ₹1.85 crore on Saturday, a slight growth from its opening day of ₹1.15 crore. The total India gross collections stand at ₹3.57 crore and the total India net at ₹3.00 crore.
Main Vaapas Aaunga is facing stiff competition from several releases, including Kangana Ranaut's Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata and Steven Spielberg's Disclosure Day. The film's storyline revolves around a 95-year-old man who suffers a stroke while trying to rush to Pakistan, and his grandson's attempts to piece together his past.
Imtiaz Ali spoke about the film, saying, 'To move forward, it is not necessary to forget the past. I feel that it is very important to keep the past open. One should not pretend. For a tree to grow taller, it never stops strengthening its roots.' The film's box office performance will be crucial to make the most of its opening weekend.
