The Indian sports community is in mourning following the sudden passing of celebrated shooter and coach Jaspal Rana, who died at 49 due to cardiac complications.

Rana, an Asian Games gold medalist and mentor to top Indian athletes, fell ill on his return from the ISSF World Cup in Munich and underwent medical treatment, but tragically passed away.

Production house Roy Kapur Films shared a moving message, revealing they had been collaborating with Rana on a biopic to bring his incredible journey to the silver screen.

Roy Kapur Films paid tribute to Rana's impact on Indian sports and the athletes he helped build, calling him 'a true champion' and 'one of the architects of India's sporting excellence.'

The production house revealed they had been working closely with Rana to develop his life story for the big screen, noting his passion and commitment to helping his students realize their full potential.

Rana was a highly decorated pistol shooter with multiple Asian Games and Commonwealth Games titles, and was officially honoured with the prestigious Dronacharya Award for his coaching.
