Filmmaker Kiran Rao has expressed her desire to direct films at Rohit Shetty's pace, revealing she has no plans to take another long break. In an interview with Variety India, Kiran spoke about her 13-year hiatus and her plans for future projects.
Kiran, who returned to directing with her 2024 film Laapataa Ladies, said she wishes she had the confidence to direct multiple films simultaneously like Rohit Shetty. She added that she is 'almost too careful' about the viability of a project, which has led to her taking a long break.
Kiran is currently working on four or five different projects, including a supernatural horror film, a noir project, and a comedy-drama with Laapataa Ladies-esque elements. She made her directorial debut with the 2011 film Dhobi Ghat and returned to directing with Laapataa Ladies in 2024.
Rohit Shetty, on the other hand, is busy shooting Golmaal 5, which stars Ajay Devgn, Sharman Joshi, and Akshay Kumar in key roles. The film is expected to be a big hit, given the success of the Golmaal franchise.
