Filmmaker Kunal Kohli's iconic love story Hum Tum, released 22 years ago, remains a classic. However, the filmmaker recently revealed that the on-screen chemistry between Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji was not mirrored off-screen.
Kohli shared that Saif and Rani didn't get along during the shooting of the film, with the two actors having 'zero camaraderie'. However, after a conversation between Kohli and Saif, the atmosphere on set improved.
Kohli also recalled the infamous kissing scene in the song 'Saanson Ko Saanson Mein', where Rani initially refused to do the kiss and ended up laughing during the take. The director described it as 'one of the worst kisses of Hindi cinema'.
Hum Tum was a significant film in Saif's career, changing his trajectory and earning him the title of Bollywood's first 'metrosexual' hero. He also won the National Award for Best Actor that year for his performance in the film.
