Pop icon Kylie Minogue has shared her private battle with cancer, revealing she was diagnosed for a second time in 2021, nearly two decades after overcoming her first cancer scare.

In a new Netflix documentary, Kylie, 57, spoke about her second cancer diagnosis and how she struggled to find the right time to announce it publicly, even after the huge success of her Grammy-winning single Padam Padam in 2023.

Kylie said she didn't feel obliged to tell the world about her cancer diagnosis and that she was just a 'shell of a person' after her treatment, adding that her 2023 song Story refers to that period of her life.

Kylie was 36 years old when she received her first breast cancer diagnosis in 2005, cancelling her Showgirl tour and pulling out of Glastonbury festival to start her cancer treatments in Melbourne. She was declared cancer-free in 2006.
