Bollywood legends Mumtaz and Dharmendra were one of the most iconic on-screen pairs of the 1960s and 70s, starring in hits like Loafer (1973) and Jheel Ke Us Paar (1973). However, Mumtaz was noticeably absent from Dharmendra's last rites, and now she has revealed the reason behind her decision. Mumtaz met Dharmendra at the hospital shortly before his death, when he was on a ventilator. She visited him and was told by doctors that his condition was stable at the time. However, she chose not to attend his funeral because she didn't want to see his lifeless body. 'I wouldn't have been able to see his mortal remains,' she said. Mumtaz also shared a heartwarming memory of visiting Dharmendra and his wife Prakash Kaur at their Mumbai residence a few years ago. She expressed her sympathy for Dharmendra's family, particularly his wife Hema Malini, saying 'I feel sorry for his family, and for Hema ji. She was always devoted to him. She must be feeling this loss very deeply.' Dharmendra passed away on November 24 at the age of 89 after battling health issues. His sons Sunny and Bobby Deol hosted a prayer meet in Mumbai, while Hema Malini and her daughters Esha and Ahana Deol organised a separate service in Delhi.
