Singer Asha Bhosle died on Sunday at the age of 92 due to multi-organ failure, leaving behind a legacy as one of India’s most versatile voices.

Veteran actor Mumtaz shares her final memory of the singer, recalling she rushed to the hospital when she heard Asha was hospitalised, but couldn't speak to her as the doctors informed her she was critical.

Mumtaz and Asha Bhosle had delivered hits like Koi Shahri Babu and Duniya Mein Logon Ko, with Asha often telling Mumtaz that Aaja O Mere Raja was the most difficult song of her career.

The two singers were neighbours in Walkeshwar, and Mumtaz remembers lying in their laps when they would do riyaz with their tanpura.

Asha breathed her last at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been admitted on Saturday due to extreme exhaustion and a chest infection.
