The teaser of Nitesh Tiwari's adaptation of Ramayana has received criticism for its visuals and VFX, as well as Ranbir Kapoor's casting as Lord Rama. Actor Sunil Lahri, the original Lakshman from Ramanand Sagar's iconic TV show Ramayana, has expressed his concerns about Ranbir's look as Rama.

Sunil Lahri praised the grand scale and ambition of the teaser but felt that Ranbir lacks the innocence and calmness required for the role. He compared Ranbir's look to Arun Govil's portrayal in the original TV show and felt that Ranbir looks 'a little harsh.'

Lahri also suggested that Ranbir would be better suited for the roles of Laxmana or Bharat, and that a fresh face would be an ideal match for the role of Lord Rama.

The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Yash as Ravana, and Sai Pallavi as Sita, is set to release in two parts, with the first part arriving in October 2026 and the second part in 2027.
