The legal battle between Pooja Entertainment and Tips Music has sparked a debate over who owns the rights to a film's music. Pooja Entertainment recently dragged Tips to court, alleging that the latter recreated the iconic song Chunari Chunari without permission. The court has granted interim protection to Vashu Bhagnani, producer of Pooja Entertainment.
Tips Music maintained on Instagram that they remain the "lawful owner" of the music rights, dismissing Pooja Entertainment's claims as "malicious." However, Vashu Bhagnani's legal spokesperson stated that the entire music rights are covered under the "status quo" order, subject to the court's directive.
The spokesperson further asserted that film producers should unite to assert and protect their rights, as music companies have been earning enormous revenues from the open market based on investments and rights originally belonging to producers.
Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Pooja Hegde, is at the center of the dispute.
