As Dhurandhar 2 gallops towards the ₹1500 crore mark at the worldwide box office, cinephiles and industry insiders are discussing the film's cultural impact. Filmmaker Priyadarshan has praised the film and its director Aditya Dhar, comparing him to the iconic blockbuster Sholay.

Priyadarshan, who assisted Aditya on Aakrosh and Tezz, says that Aditya is motivating him through his work. The two have a long history, with Aditya serving as dialogue writer on two of Priyadarshan's films before making his directorial debut with Uri.

Priyadarshan is blown away by Dhurandhar, saying that Aditya broke the complete theory of Bollywood and Indian cinema. The film's success has minted ₹1300 crore worldwide, including ₹840 crore net in India alone, a new record for Bollywood.

The sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has broken every existing box-office record on its way to ₹1350 crore in just 11 days. The film is on course to top Dangal as the highest-grossing Indian film ever.

Priyadarshan is also returning to Hindi cinema with three films, all starring Akshay Kumar, including horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, which releases in April.
