Anjali Sivaraman will play Amrita Sher-Gil in Mira Nair's biopic Amri, alongside Priyanka Chopra as Madame Azurie and Jaideep Ahlawat in prominent roles.
The film, set in early twentieth century Hungary, France, and India, chronicles the life of Indian artist Amrita Sher-Gil, a pioneer in modern Indian art.
Amrita Sher-Gil, who died at 28, was a highly influential artist known for her bold imagery and life. Her paintings give a glimpse into India and its women of the time.
Priyanka Chopra is also executive producing the movie, which is set to feature a star-studded cast, including Emily Watson, Krisztian Csakvari, Anjana Vasan, and Jim Sarbh.
