A child protection officer in Pune has written to the police chief, expressing concerns over the lyrics of rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh's songs, which he claims 'glorify alcohol, drugs and gun culture'. The officer has asked the police to ensure the contents of Honey Singh's programme remain 'appropriate, socially responsible and in conformity with child protection principles and statutory safeguards'. Honey Singh's songs, such as 'One Bottle Down' and 'Char Bottle Vodka', have been criticized for promoting a bad impact on mental health, particularly among minors.
The Delhi High Court has also directed Honey Singh and Badshah to immediately take down their 2006–07 song 'Volume 1' from all social media platforms, citing it as 'grossly vulgar, patently obscene, and derogatory towards women, artistic values, and social norms'. Honey Singh has postponed his Pune concert, scheduled for April 4, to April 18 due to anticipated rain and thunderstorms.
